With the holiday season getting underway and Australia looking to draw more international companies to Australia, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has outlined his plans for attracting more foreign talent.

Mr Turnbull said the Government’s tourism strategy is aiming to attract 500,000 permanent and seasonal residents to Australia during the 2015 financial year.

The announcement will add to pressure on Government house construction projects which have seen an average of 5,000 foreign nationals moved into the community every month.

The Government announced last month it was cutting up to 300,000 public servants and slashing around $70 billion in government spending.

Mr Turnbull said it was clear the nation’s ageing population and housing stock needed to be addressed to boost employment, infrastructure and population growth.
